Time to Save the Planet July 27, 2009
Posted by CamdenKiwi in : msc rebe , trackbackIt’s a nice, safe world I live in. A secure job pays the rapidly reducing mortgage on an even smaller flat, with a bit of a pension tucked away, and no real worries. I could quite easily go on like this for another twenty years, then collect a clock and take up gardening.
But safe is over-rated, as the world gets warmer and the corporate IT industry grows older. Who knows where the next twenty years will lead?
And so, last week, I sent in the enrolment forms for a career change. Its time to stop moaning about how the guvmint never does nuffin about climate change, and get in there and do something. That something is an MSc in Renewable Energy, followed a job, or perhaps a business, that makes use of my project management skills, adds the new knowledge and saves the planet, one little bit at a time.
The course is based at the Centre for Alternative Technology, in a beautiful valley in the middle of Wales. Once a month, students go there for a week of intensive classes, then come home and absorb it all while writing a paper. Founded by hippies in the seventies, it has a nice mix of the anarchic, the practical and the very modern.
