About
My name is Cathryn Symons, and I live in the London Borough of Camden. I’d like to write more, so thought I’d start a blog to see if I can do it. I’m likely to blog on life here, public transport, Green issues, interesting places, restaurants, books, ideas I’ve had, and anything else that springs to mind.

This blog originally started over on Wordpress.com, as Camden Lady, and has now been moved onto its own site and installation of Wordpress. That’s allowed me to introduce new features such as the Green Bloggers list and the Now Reading sections on the sidebar.

Hello Camden Kiwi
This is Haringey Kiwi! Like the content of your blog. Already linked to your blog via Green Blogger but thought I’d say hello since we live in the same city and both originate from NZ, and blog on environmental subjects. Contact details below. Our blog consists of a few Londoners who met on an OU environment course last year. We still meet up and some of us contribute to the blog as well.
Take care
Matt Burge
I think I owe you a book. Send me a mailing address and I’ll send it out.
Hiya. I’m a first time visitor but had to say that I’m really enjoying your blog. I’ve been hanging around the blogosphere for a year or so now but have recently closed down all my old blogs and started afresh. Well I brought the posts from one blog with me but the other’s started from scratch again. Like you, I’m using WordPress on my domain. Was using Blogger before but absolutely hate it! It’s been particularly nasty to me so we’re no longer friends!
Will be dropping by again and have put you on my blogroll.
Hello from someone who has gone the other way - UK to NZ. I’ve never quite got around to going home..
Hello in there. What wonderful news to discover that in Europam lingua Romanorum vivat, and that English has not quite yet superceded it as the universal language. Such are the miracles of modern technology that the ancient tongue can spread through the ether in a way that Caesar would have envied. Speaking of new technology, I paid you a cybervisit the other day. I have hooked in to Googlearth and have been playing with it, learning to navigate. I hung suspended above your place from a height of about 150 metres and the resolution was incredible, although I could not see Thelma - she must have been curled up under a duvet.
My name is Elizabeth Humphreys and I’m a student at University College London studying for an MSc in Urban Regeneration. I noticed an old blog of yours from about 12 months ago in relation to living in Somers Town. I’m currently doing some research in the area and wondered if you had come across the Somers Town Community Association? I’m interested in finding out what residents think about the facility and the contribution it makes to community development and urban renewal.
I would be interested in hearing from you.
Elizabeth - I’ve emailed you as well, but I’m not aware of the Somers Town Community Association, though I have used the Community Hall for residents association meetings, and that’s a useful facility. How do I get in contact with them?
Hi Cathryn,
I’m just having a wander round your blog and thought you might be interested in having a look at your local Friends of the Earth blog
at http://camdenfoe.blogspot.com/. We’re beginners in the blog field but let me know if anything catches your interest, or if you want to get involved in any of our campaigns.

Hello there,
Love your blog, and as climate change is part of an Oxfam campaign I’m working on at the moment I thought you may be interested to hear about it.
It’s called the G8 Wait and can be found on MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. The basic idea is this: in 2005 the world leaders made lots of promises about poverty. Unfortunately a lot of these promises are in danger of being broken. So we want to let the G8, and particularly Tony Blair, know that we’re eagerly waiting for them to respond on these promises. We’re asking Tony to post a video when he returns from this year’s G8 explaining what he and the seven other world leaders discussed and decided. The more people waiting the more likely he is to respond.
So we’ve made a sort of virtual waiting space – the peoples’ table - on the four major social networking sites, and we’re trying to get as many people as possible to join.
You can have a look here:
MySpace(www.myspace.com/g8wait) Facebook(http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2347287531) YouTube(www.youtube.com/g8wait) Flickr(www.flickr.com/groups/g8wait)
Climate change is really high on the G8 agenda so maybe you’d like to mention our campaign in your blog? That would be most lovely indeed. It’s really important that we get as many people as possible to join so your help would be much appreciated. And while you’re at it, make sure you join the wait too!
Thank you so much. Let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Cathryn,
Hello. I’m a Kiwi also working in Camden and living in London. I’m part of a small, but enthusiastic, group campaigning for the NZ Green party to Kiwis living in London. At latest estimates there’s over 100,000 of us here and most are eligible to vote so it’s a significant electorate for the election. The Greens have a natural affinity with Kiwis living over here as they’ve generally travelled a fair bit and now appreciate more than ever what we have back home, and feel more determined to keep it as clean and green as possible.
I wonder if you’d be interested joining our group, or posting about any of our events? We engage in a wide range of activities from direct face-to-face campaigning (like at the Waitangi day pub crawl & Kiwi music concerts) to hosting events to viral campaigns (to come closer to the election). We have a facebook page where you can see the kind of things we get up to.

We’re always keen for people to help out in any way, small or large, online or face-to-face. Let me know if you’re keen to get involved in any way.
I’m also the producer of a new climate change documentary you may have heard of, called ‘The Age of Stupid’. http://www.ageofstupid.net
