Somers Town

I could call this blog ‘Somers Town Kiwi’, but that doesn’t roll off the tongue quite so easily.  Somers Town is a district  in the south of Camden.   Draw a line from Kings Cross to Euston along Euston Rd, and then go back 500 metres or so, to Crowndale Rd, and that’s it.   Some people take it as far as Hampsted Rd, and up Midland Road a way.  Its the area between the two great railway stations of Euston and Kings Cross.

Its quiet, working class, well established and friendly.  Most of the housing is owned by the council or housing associations, with a mix of leaseholders, private tenants and council ones.  Until Shane Meadows made a film set here, noone had ever heard of it, and even that fame is fleeting.

It’s a good place to live.  Sometimes I write about it.
